Russia’s state-own nanotechnology giant Rusnano launched an online catalog of nanotechnology based products last week.
The site, solutions.rusnano.com, has been unofficially dubbed “the nanotechnologies internet shop” by the Russian media after an expression used in Rusnano’s own press release.
In reality, the portal resembles an online exhibition of innovative products and technologies rather than a supermarket. It provides a catalog of detailed information on 323 finished products developed with the use of nanotechnologies by Rusnano-funded companies. Interested parties can find products by the area of application, producer, region, and by other criteria.
According to Alexander Morozov, Head of Demand Stimulation Programs at Rusnano, the primary purpose of the new website is to promote innovative products on both local and foreign markets.
The solutions.rusnano.com is in both Russian and English and in the future will be equipped to handle online purchases, a source familiar with the matter told Russian online publication ICT-Online.ru. According to this source, total investment in the portal may exceed 5 million rubles ($170,000).
